Concept

The Next Generation Telecommunication Summit will enable “C” level executives from the equipment manufacturer, service provider, content owner and Regulator community – all stakeholders in this developing new world of multimedia convergence – to come together and debate the challenges they face

Introduction

The telecommunications market in Central & Latin America and the Caribbean is booming. Driven by huge consumer, business and government demand, Latin America has been making giant strides forward in the development of its telecommunications services. However, the strategies adopted by telecom stakeholders in meeting this demand are as diverse as the region itself.

Challenges

There are wide differences among the various nations due to the pronounced inequalities between rich and poor, and between urban and rural areas. Licensing and regulatory trends differ from country to country and the quality of existing infrastructure is also variable. The successful operators have developed clear business plans to meet the demand for sophisticated services with new technologies.

Low penetration rates, high growth potential and new product offerings that can facilitate telephony and broadband roll out makes this the most exciting time in the regions telecommunications history. There are wide differences among the various nations due to the pronounced inequalities between rich and poor, and between urban and rural areas.
